The First Saturday in May

This Saturday is the Kentucky Derby. The most exciting two minutes in sports. Perhaps my favorite sporting event of the year to base a party around. Sure, some, if not most, love a good Super Bowl party- but not this guy. I'm a Derby party man.

Gentle readers. Sunday marks one year since Boyfriend and your MatchGirl took the leap and moved in together. And what a year it's been.

Valentine

Today's post, gentle readers, is for Boyfriend.

Read on, if you wish. But know that these words are for him.

Today, is Valentine's day, and, with recent circumstances, I'm a little short on cash. I know you understand.

We've been through some ups. We've been through some downs. We've held hands and helped each other keep going. Moving forward.

This post, is for you, Boyfriend.
You, who helps me to remember that I am strong.
You, who helps me to realize that I can be better.
You, who makes me realize - even in my darkest hour - that there is probably nothing I can't do. At least, nothing I can't do with you by my side.

So, on this, our second Valentine's Day together, I want to say, "I love you".

Who I Was Meant For

Thursday means ... guest post from Boyfriend!

Life comes at you from all angles sometimes. It can be a real drag. Work is not always great. Many toil away doing jobs we don’t like. Sometimes this is a means to an end, sometimes, it’s just easier than taking a chance.

Right now I’m in a sort of transitional period, career-wise. I don’t love my job but it does pay (some of) the bills and affords me good networking opportunities. That being said, my days can be pure drudgery. One huge upside to our MatchGirl’s change in employment status means that she is usually home when I get home from work.

Changing Routines

Freelancing (part time) from home probably brings to mind people in their PJs on a laptop all day. Maybe just rolling out of bed in time to make a 9AM Skype call ...

In my new-found position, it would be so easy to stay in bed till late in the morning. Heck, I could work from my bed if I was so inclined - it certainly is cozy.

Ebb and Flow

Gentle readers, as you surely know by now, some things have changed in our little home and your MatchGirl is looking for work. While I've picked up some freelance stuff and I've been having some great conversations, the fact of the matter is that I'm home a lot.

Revelations 20:11 - Part 2

Today's guest post from Boyfriend picks up where he left off last week, talking about his discoveries, revelations and favorites of 2011.

2011 saw some travel and exposed me to some wonderful new discoveries.

New England I have visited most regions in the US. However my travels had, up until this summer, never taken me to New England - the birthplace and former stomping grounds of your MatchGirl. Well, let me tell you I was very impressed with this region. I found a lot of similarity to my native Northern California. (your MatchGirl’s note: except where we were in NH is really old)

Revelations 20:11

Thursday's guest post from Boyfriend looks back on some of the best of 2011. In his mind anyway.

The year is over and you are so tired of list. Oh well I want to share mine, so you have to deal with one more. Instead of a best this or top 10 these I’ve opted to go with some of the people places and things that discovered and enjoyed this year. Some are unexpected some are some aren’t. They were all bright spots in an tough year. This is in no particular order.
