Budget Friendly Cleaning: Bathroom

As you may or may not know, your MatchGirl was raised by parents who could be described as falling somewhere within the "hippie" spectrum. And Boyfriend is from Northern California. To that end, I decided to go back to my roots and try some old, natural and, the best part, cheap methods for doing some cleaning.

I'll start this series in the bathroom where, as you can see, despite Boyfriend cleaning it with a bottle bathroom cleaner, the tub was grey and dingy and, quite honestly, embarrassing!

Just look at it now, though, gentle readers, a sparkling white tub! Without using chemicals or harsh cleansers.

My mother's secret cleaner, one you have in your cupboard, is baking soda and white vinegar. Yep. Your third grade science project come to life once again. This time as a cleaning agent.

No exact measurements here, but a basic formula:

About 1/2 cup Baking Soda, sprinkled liberally
About 1/4 to 1/2 cup white vinegar, just enough to make the soda bubble

Let it sit for about ten minutes, scrub (yes, you still need to use a little elbow grease!) and rinse.

It's an old remedy, one you probably know, but one that still works amazingly well!
