Menu Plans

Since your MatchGirl and Boyfriend have moved in together, they have decided that menu planning should be an important part of their weekly routine.

Sure, things will change based on availability and taste, but to spend a little time on the weekend, planning the week's meals will only save time and money in the long run.

This week, your MatchGirl spent a long time with recipe websites, pen and paper and her cabinets open, trying to figure out what the best meals for her and Boyfriend would be, to get them through the week.

I started with coming up with a meal for Saturday night, and planned from there. The hope of meal planning for the week is two fold. One - have recipes and ingredients laid out so that when we get home from work, we can just make dinner and enjoy it, instead of standing in front of the cabinets and fridge trying to figure out, at the end of a very long day, what the heck we can piece together. Two - to ensure leftovers so that I can take my lunch several times during the week, thus saving a lot of money in the long run.

This week we'll eat a good mix of freshly prepared meals and leftovers prepared from the meals. There are tons of websites and blogs where you can read about meal planning (although, most of them are Mommy blogs, not blogs about childless couples) so I'm not sure how much more I'll write on the subject in the future...  though, if something goes catastrophically wrong, gentle readers, in our weekly menu planning - or even in a particular meal - expect to read about it here.

  1. I wouldn't doubt the interesting-ness of menu planning for two. While many mommy bloggers do it, there are single and coupled folks who would love to peek into the planning of a couple like you two!

I know my roommate and I attempt menu planning at times, but don't stick to it the best. Hearing about your planning would be a learning experience.

  2. That's true, Emily! There are not a lot of menu plans for two out there (believe me, I looked!). Guess I'll be reporting back on the success of this week's plan. :)
